Logistics and Practicals
How long is a session and how much does it cost?
Please refer to our Services page for a full breakdown of costs. For a single session, my rate is $99NZD for 50 minutes. I also offer secure payment via card, bank transfer or invoice.
Note: Checking other therapists/counsellors, you'll find that the median amount charged for a therapy/counselling session in Auckland is $140-200+ NZD for 45-50 minute session with a counsellor with my experience (over 10 years). I hope to reach those who are unable to pay this. Moreover, I can keep costs down because I operate independently.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations may be subject to a fee (up to the full session cost).
Are notes and records kept private and secure?
Yes, your records are stored securely and handled in line with New Zealand privacy standards (following NZAC guidelines). Full confidentiality applies, except when required by law or in cases of risk to yourself or others.
First Session and What to Expect
What happens during the first session?
The first session is largely a chat to get to know each other. You’ll complete an intake form, and I’ll explain what to expect from therapy. We’ll also discuss your goals and how to work best together.
How many sessions will I need?
Every person’s journey is unique. While some benefit from a few focused sessions (especially with solution-focused techniques), others may benefit from longer-term work. We’ll collaborate on a plan that feels right for you.
Inclusivity and Values
Is this a safe space for LGBTQIA+ clients?
Absolutely. My practice is fully inclusive, affirming, and welcoming to clients of all gender identities, sexual orientations, cultures, and backgrounds.
I’m an expat—how can therapy help me?
Expats often face unique challenges like identity shifts, belonging, and adjustment. As someone who’s navigated the expat journey personally, I offer a grounded, empathetic space to explore these transitions and build resilience.
What if I don’t feel it’s a good fit?
That’s totally okay. Therapy is deeply personal. If you feel we’re not the right match, I can help connect you with other qualified practitioners in Auckland or online.
Do you use a sliding scale?
Yes. If you have financial constraints or if you are a student, I may be willing to adjust fee.
Final Notes
Your wellbeing matters - and reaching out is a courageous first step. If there’s anything I haven’t covered, feel free to let me know. I’m happy to answer more questions anytime.
