EVERY CONVERSATION OPENS A DIFFERENT STORY

What do you hear
when you really listen?

Someone sits down opposite you. There is the story they came to tell—and the things that are harder to put into words.

Room for Becoming invites you to slow down, choose how to respond and follow the conversation. Connection, uncertainty and a quiet thread of mystery unfold through an illustrated day in Auckland.

01

Choose your words

Listen, ask a question, make space or try a different approach. Your responses shape the conversation, and a second playthrough can open another perspective.

02

Meet three people

Spend a first day with Mara, Elias and Lena. Each arrives with a story, and each has a life beyond the therapy room.

03

Take the evening home

Close the clinic door and decide how to spend your own time. There is a person in the therapist’s chair, too—and something left to think about.

MADE WITH CURIOSITY. SHARED WITH YOU.

A personal project.
A shared love of stories.

Room for Becoming is a passion project designed by Jon Kirk, the practising therapist behind Four Pillars Counselling, and his wife, a doctor of clinical psychology.

It brings their professional perspectives together with a love of games, character and the small moments that make people human. The characters are invented; the invitation to be curious is real.

The beta is still evolving, and player feedback will help shape what comes next.

BEFORE YOU STEP INSIDE

A few useful things
to know.

Is the demo free?

Yes. The public beta demo is free to play without an account or payment. The game also offers an optional paid extended development prototype; the title screen explains that separately.

What kind of game is it?

An illustrated, choice-driven narrative game: read scenes, decide what to say and follow the responses. You play a therapist beginning a new chapter in Auckland, with a life of your own outside work.

Can I stop and come back?

Progress saves automatically in the same browser on the same device when browser storage is available. Clearing browser data removes that progress. Saves do not automatically move between devices.

Do I need to know anything about therapy?

No. Curiosity and an interest in people are enough. The game includes an approaches notebook for introductory context, but it is fictional entertainment, not therapy or professional training.

What does beta mean?

You are playing an early version. Dialogue, features and story content may change, and you may find rough edges. The demo is an invitation to explore and help us understand what works before the game grows further.

Are there content notes?

The demo includes anxiety, exhaustion, bereavement and unsettling messages. It is intended for teen and adult audiences and is not officially age-rated. Read the in-game content information before starting; the extended prototype has additional themes.

THE DOOR IS OPEN

Come for the story.
Stay for the people.

Try the free beta demo. Then tell us which moment stayed with you, where a conversation felt natural, or what you would love to see next.

Please keep feedback about the fictional game; no personal health information is needed.
