A conversation about Jonathan's background, the Four Pillars approach and how counselling can help people find practical ways forward.
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with East FM and talk about counselling, mental health and the work I do through Four Pillars Counselling.

During the conversation, I shared some of my background, what led me into counselling and the approach I bring to supporting individuals and couples. We also discussed the value of having a supportive, non-judgmental space where people can understand what they are experiencing, work through difficult patterns and identify practical ways forward.
Counselling does not have to begin with a crisis. People often reach out because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, uncertain about a relationship or simply ready to make a meaningful change.
A practical approach to counselling
My work is collaborative and person-centred. Depending on the person and their goals, sessions may draw on CBT, ACT, narrative therapy, existential therapy, mindfulness, Te Whare Tapa Whā and Gottman-informed couples work. You can read more about these approaches on the counselling services page.
Thank you to East FM for inviting me to have this conversation, and to Crawford Wellness Centre for making the interview available online.
